We get the kids two gifts for Christmas. One from us and one from Santa. They also get only one birthday gift. Because of that, we try to make them pretty nice gifts. Well, I asked Clara a while back what she was going to ask Santa for for Christmas. She usually doesn't know, so I suggested maybe a bike since she's still riding the tricycle she got for her 2nd birthday.
She was really excited about that idea so I felt confident to go ahead and let Santa know he could have it delivered and we'd hold onto it until Christmas to save room in his sleigh. I also picked up her birthday and Christmas gifts. Actually, I've finished all my birthday and Christmas shopping for both my kids and the niece and nephews. They're even wrapped. You're jealous, aren't you?
I digress. So a couple of days ago Clara tells me, "I know what I'm going to ask Santa for for Christmas." Uh-oh, I think to myself. "Yeah, I know. A big girl bike since your tricycle is too small for you now. A new bike would be so cool!" She says, "No, I'm not going to tell you. It's going to be a surprise!"
Hmmmm. What to do. There was no convincing her that she needed to tell me what she's going to ask him for.

Maybe she'll confide in Grandma.
take her for pics with santa and she will spill it.
Maybe you should have her write a letter to santa, or if she can't "write" (i.e. spell and write where you can understand) she can draw. Mommy may even need to help her so that Santa will be clear!
I'd say that you are really in a fine pickle now!
Love,
