Twenty-Six Weeks

This post is a little late. I'm close to 27 weeks now, but here it is anyway. I'm 116.5 pounds this week and the baby is 1 and 2/3 pounds and 14 inches long. It's hearing better this week and can recognize mom and dad's voices starting right about now.

I took the calcium/magnesium tablets for several days and my contractions have greatly diminished. I only have a couple of contractions a day now and haven't had to take them anymore.

I seem to have traded the braxton hicks for an irregular heartbeat though. I've noticed that my heart skips beats quite a lot and I can feel it flutter and jump frequently. When I'm laying down, I feel it a lot and it's really unnerving. I called the midwife today and we're going to try to see if a change in diet helps. This isn't going to be easy though. I'm to cut out caffeine, sugar and carbs for a week and see if it hasn't improved.

Caffeine and sugar isn't so bad, but carbs? That's not going to be easy. I can do whole grain, but that's not like whole grain bread you buy in the store. It's the weird stuff I don't even know how to go about obtaining or preparing.

Anyway, skipping beats is pretty common during pregnancy due to an increase in blood volume, but I have a heart murmur and this seems to be much more frequent than when I was pregnant with Clara. I'll be referred to a cardiologist if I'm unable to get them under control, so your prayers are welcome!

I'll leave you with this flashback to 2005 when I was 26 weeks with Clara. Ugh, that hair! I was growing it out and was in real need of a trim. My sideburns and back grew so fast and it took the top for-ever to catch up. Makes me cringe just thinking about how long it took for my hair to look presentable.

I was checking out your stomach, looks the same as when you were pregnant with Clara. Just to see if you were having a boy, but your belly button looks higher up for some reason.
