We Need Some Advice

We are in sore need of a new mattress. Chris wakes with a backache every morning on our mattress and has officially moved to the futon (due also in part to me, the person he affectionately calls "the furnace").

So I've started reading up a bit on our options and what all is out there and holy cow, this isn't going to be fun. Any suggestions where we can get knowledgeable salesmen and good prices? A mattress store, furniture store, department store?? Is there any beds out there that you especially like or don't like? Anything we need to keep in mind while shopping? We definitely don't want to go the cheapest route, but aren't interested in spending 5k either. Advise away please.

Tempur-Pedic has made all the difference for me. I could only sleep flat on my back until I got one, and now I can sleep on my sides as well and it is much more comfortable than any other bed I have laid on.

We bought a Sleep Number Bed and love it. We have had it almost 1 year now and we were in DESPERATE need of new bed at the time. We felt the same way when we started shopping. It was overwhelming-
This bed has been well worth the $ we spent! Good Luck!

When I was pregnant we bought a sleep number bed. It is the best purchase in our entire marriage! That's been 4 years ago and both of us still LOVE it! We looked at Tempur-pedic beds, but were warned by friends and a sales person that they could get hot and sweaty. Not something we wanted in Houston. I look forward to laying in our bed everyday. That's the first time I can honestly say that I love a bed. Good luck! Call me if you have any questions. But, go to a sleep number store and I think you will be amazed.

We bought a Kingsdown mattress (but I can't remember what mattress store it was). We actually just said this morning that we would have to get another mattress because neither of us ever want to get up! Buying that mattress was hard for me because since they are so much money, I put so much pressure on myself that it has to be perfect...well we got this one right!

Good luck and I would only caution against putting too much into what some salespeople say because they will tell you what you need to hear to get the sale...but I am sure you already know that. Several times I felt that we were being misled to get the bigger commission.

Good luck!

We have found some excellent deals on High End Top of the line Beauty Rests at Mattress Firm Outlet Centers - there are 2 on 1960 (1 at Stuebner Airline and 1 near the chick fila by willowbrook. If you go straight to the back they have some scratch and dent type in excellent condition. We got ours for less than $1000 and it is a king size. We have gone there twice and have been super impressed. They have all different brands include sterns and foster - the key is the longer it has been sitting there the cheaper it is.

Good luck - Mindy

We are in LOVE with our tempur-pedic. It is pricy and honestly took me about 2 weeks to get used to it. Now I can't wait to get home from vacations to sleep in my bed! It was worth every penny and has some crazy huge long warranty. Also, my husband is VERY warm natured and does not have any problems with staying cool at night. So funny that you asked about this, because I was just thinking of doing a blog post about how much I love my mattress. Good luck with your search. Oh and we got ours at gallery furniture.
