Uncle Jerry

Sorry I've not updated in a while. The kids and I left for Pecos on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. On Tuesday, we got the terrible news that my mom's brother, Uncle Jerry, was killed in a car wreck in Utah. It was a rough week for my family and the loss was intensified by his absence at Thanksgiving dinner. There was an outpouring of kind words, phone calls and visits to my mom and his other siblings in the days following his death. He meant a lot to many people. I'm just heartbroken for my cousins who are suffering such a terrible loss. Because of the holiday and other snags, it took some time to get him back to Texas and his funeral will be tomorrow. I know it will be at least a small relief to Laura and John when he's finally put to rest tomorrow; it's been a long, frustrating week and half for them. I had outpatient surgery on Wednesday and while the surgery was not major, I knew I wouldn't be up for traveling yet. I went back and forth for a long time trying to decide if I could handle the trip and I just feel terrible that I'll be missing the funeral and won't be with my family this weekend. I just hope you all know that I'll be thinking and praying for everyone tomorrow.

Kelsey,
I have posted some photos of the Jerry's service on my blog. It was very sad. I am glad that I was able to be there for Laura. And also, it was really nice to meet some of her family such as your mom, dad, and sister. You know, being able to put faces with names!
I wish that I could have met you. Someday, perhaps.
Take care,
cathy (Laura's Momma B.)
