It's been awhile, so I suppose a new post is in order. This will be a severely mundane post though, I'm afraid.
We're trekking right along with potty training, still not doing great actually. I am so tired of this. When she has a success, it's awesome and we celebrate and we get cool treats. I feel a renewed sense of accomplishment, knowing for sure that this time it's clicked in that little head of hers. Thus far, the celebratory treats have not incented her to stay dry. The only time she goes on the potty is when I know she needs to go (like after she wakes up dry from a nap) and she's sat on the thing for an hour straight, which she only does if she's watching cartoons. She has watched soooo many cartoons; I'm a terrible parent. She doesn't think to go if she's up and about. And she's never come and told me she needs to go. I had to scrap the naked training because she just whined and cried for panties or a diaper. I'll give it another week or so before I throw in the towel.
She's started singing "Jesus loves me", which just makes my heart melt.
She's got most of her colors down now. She knows black (back), white, yellow (yeyo), green (gee), and pink pretty consistently. Purple and orange she gets sometimes. She, without fail, thinks that blue is black. Red is somehow hard for her to grasp and she never really guesses it right.
She understands the concept of counting pretty well, but really only counts up to about 4 or 5 if you ask her to count something. If she's just saying her numbers, she can get to 10 with just a little assistance.
She's saying more and more words and will string two or three words together, but when she starts "talking" in sentences, she's completely unintelligible. She's trying hard though. She's starting to get frustrated that we don't understand everything she's saying.
The phrase "Mommy, a _____?" is starting to get really old. Just fill in the blank with any word (bird, tree, potty, floor, dog, apple, toy, panties, shirt, socks, shoe, backpack, purse, car, drink, tv, bugs, book, etc, etc, etc, etc..................................... you get the idea). She says it like she's asking a question while pulling on my shirt or pants and repeats it over and over until I acknowledge her and say "Yes, it's a ______. And then she's fine, until she finds something else to ask me about.
I shouldn't write this next bit, but it's my blog, so I'm gonna because I think it's funny. A long time ago, while teaching Clara her body parts, we inevitably came upon some parts that needed names and I felt there should be no shame in teaching her all of her parts. On that day, I taught her nipples. (I would've taught her to call them breasts, but I thought Daddy wouldn't be too keen on her commenting on his breasts, so I made an executive decision to call them nipples.)
At first, she said "muh-muhs". A friend was holding her and Clara started touching her chest saying "muh-muhs", to which the friend replied, "I'm not Mama, Mama's over there." Laughing, I informed her that she wasn't saying Mama, she was saying nipples. She quickly made sure nothing was hanging out, but I assured her that nothing was showing, Clara just knew they were under there. Later, they became "mooshies". That one's funny, I think. And they've recently become known as "muh-sels".
I believe she's either teething or going through a growth spurt, because she's been a bear lately. Maybe it's just potty retaliation, but she's been no fun. I hope she snaps out of it soon, or I may have to start looking for a job. (Don't worry, I'm just kidding about the job thing. For the most part.)
I guess that'll do it for me. Sorry for the lack of posts and pictures lately. Between potty training, colds, wisdom teeth, and cold and rainy weather we haven't gotten out much. I've had a pretty bad case of the blahs.

we have a had bad case of the blahs this week too, and for lots of the same reasons. you're doing a great job on the potty training, and the nipples story is too funny!
I was just fixing to comment on the blahs myself, we have been under the weather this whole week. The past two weeks have been a blur or a blah, whatever has come first. Glad to hear all is well on your end.
