Spring Break

The day Spring Break started, we loaded up and headed to visit Dan and Linda for the first time since their move to Texas. It rained the whole way there and all weekend. On Saturday morning, Clara jumped off the bed and landed on her foot wrong. She complained about being in pain, but I had a really hard time keeping a straight face as she limped around all day. She soooooo looked like she was faking it.

When she got up from her nap that afternoon, she wouldn't put any weight on it and was crawling around the house. She jumped at the slightest touch so we decided to take her into urgent care just in case. I normally would've wanted to wait a day before taking her in, but we were planning to leave them in Temple Sunday afternoon and so we needed to find out if it was broken. It was not. Just a sprain and after she got it x-rayed and bandaged up, we headed back to the house. By Sunday morning, she said it wasn't hurting at all. I'm still not sure if she was milking it the whole time or not.

Anyway, the sun finally started to shine through on Sunday afternoon, right as Chris and I were on our way back to Spring. And I didn't take a single picture while we were there.

We had a glorious time while the kids were gone. When we got home, we went straight to dinner and a movie. The next day I started painting the playroom and then we went to dinner and did some furniture shopping. I finished up the playroom on Tuesday and then we had dinner yet again, went back and bought a new table and chairs (my birthday/Christmas/anniversary gift) and did a little clothes and shoe shopping for Chris. Then I met Dan and Linda half way on Wednesday to pick Clara and Robert up.

They did great. I was a little worried that Robert would be upset since he's had a hard time going down at night lately. Nope. When I talked to Linda on Sunday night, I asked if he did alright after we left. She hesitated a bit before answering, "Actually, he hasn't asked about you." Let me tell you, I was feeling the love. Especially when I found out the next day he also failed to notice that I had left. During the night Tuesday, Clara woke coughing and crying and said she missed me, so I know who'll be getting the inheritance. All joking aside, I do feel very blessed to have confident, independent kids. I'm glad they got their dad's genes in that respect. I know from experience it's no fun to be shy and insecure and I would guess it's also no walk in the park parenting said child.

We met Becky and the girls at the park on Friday and let the kids play in the sand at the creek. Since I was painting a playroom on Monday (laundry day), laundry got skipped that week, hence the Star Wars t-shirt and plaid shorts. Don't judge.

We went back to the house and had lunch and then Clara got an impromptu invite to go to a hockey game that night and then stay overnight with Leah. She enthusiastically accepted. The girl was on cloud nine. This was her first time to sleep over at a friends' house. She enjoyed the hockey game and kept talking about how it was so funny when they threw their sticks down and started hitting each other. She loved being able to yell as loud as she wanted without being told to be quiet. Her last hockey game was also with Leah, back in 2007.

The kids played in the water out back for the first time this year. Robert loved the fireman hose nozzle.

That is, as long as he had possession of it.
