Random Photos

This guy flat out refuses to wear a hat. I convinced him to put it on long enough to snap a picture last month. Too cute!

He sneaked out of the house with a library book one day and found a comfy spot to sit and read it.

His new thing is to tell off the sun when it gets in his eyes, especially in the car since he can't move very easily to get it out of his face. He usually puts up his hand like a stop sign toward the sun and yells, "Stop. Sun. Go away!" On this particular day, he put his hood over his eyes after telling the sun to leave him alone and then said, "Hide. Eyes. Sun."

These next couple of pictures are from playgroup a couple of weeks ago at the children's museum. (Another rainy day.) He got completely soaked playing in the water and I had to peel him away from it, kicking and screaming.

And here he is enjoying a beautiful day at the park last week. The grass is so green and beautiful right now and I saw the first wildflowers coming up on the side of the interstate a couple of days ago. I know lots of people are done with the rain, but I hope it keeps up for a long, long time. How soon some have forgotten how terrible it was all last year with almost no rain, raging wildfires, and dead trees all over the place, not to mention the low water levels in all of our surrounding lakes. It's going to take a lot more to heal our area.

Yesterday

Robert and I went to playgroup yesterday morning at the inflatable play place (we've had sooooooo much rain here these last few weeks. It's been wonderful!) While we were there, I noticed he felt really hot and he started getting a little whiney. It was hard to tell if he was feverish or if it was just from all the running around.

We went to Schlotzky's with the group and he started acting pretty puny. I got him home and sure enough, he had a fever of 102 :( I just hate it when I unknowingly expose others to our crud. The nice thing was he went straight down for a nap. (He's been fighting them for a while now.) After picking Clara up from school, he just laid around like this for the rest of the day.

Poor little guy was miserable and he eventually fell asleep early on the couch which NEVER happens. He woke around 2:00 this morning fever-free. I was able to get him back down and he was back up at 4:00, chipper and ready to go! Unfortunately, I was not ready to be up and at 'em. It took some time to get him back down the second time and I had to sleep on his floor. So today, I've been the one dragging, letting him watch cartoons so I could slip in a nap on the couch. How did I do this up-multiple-times-each-and-every-night thing for almost a year again?

A Zoo Trip Complete With No So Great Pictures

On MLK day, Clara had the day off from school so I decided to take the kids to the zoo. My first mistake of the day was mentioning the zoo and then promptly parking at the hospital across the street to deliver a stroller to my cousin Michelle who was visiting her brother in the hospital. Oh boy, they were not happy about that little detour. Once we got into the hospital and said hello, I had to promptly high-tail it out of there before security decided to escort us out.

So then it was on to the zoo where I took a few not so great pictures. Like this one of the back of Clara's head and the elephant's bottom.

Or a couple with this elephant and the back of Robert's head.

The big excitement was seeing the Dora and Diego 4-D movie (second mistake). It was only 12 minutes long, but it was fun. You got blasted with fans and your seat started bumping around while flying in the airplane and then you got misted with water when they splashed in the river. When a banana was peeled, the room filled with the smell of banana. Robert fuh-reaked out. Big time. He loves Diego but wanted nothing to do with all that fancy schmacy interactive stuff. It was all I could do to keep him from screaming and bolting out of the room. Of course as we were leaving, he started crying for more "Eego" and I had to drag him out of there. Two year olds.

Robert got his first taste of cotton candy (at least I think it was his first) (third mistake). He wasn't quite sure what to think. I eventually had to pry a big chunk of wet, sticky cotton candy out of his hand to throw away. He was just sucking on it and it would not dissolve. Yeah, that was a mess. And naturally, he was unhappy about my decision to do away with the cotton candy.

Robert was screaming when it was time to leave so I could not wait to get back to the car and start the drive home. Well, because it was MLK day, it was completely packed aaaaannnd (fourth mistake) I forgot where I parked. We walked around for probably 10 minutes before I remembered the panic button on the remote. Sometimes I love technology. We were a looooooong way off. (Side note: I really should have a label that says Family Fun in quotes.)

"Fye" Like the Wind

Sorry. I've been a bad blogger. The screen went out on my laptop and I've been having to dock it upstairs to Chris' monitor to put pictures up. And then Chris went and took my dock off and put his on, and well, walking all the way upstairs and then changing out the docks is a little more trouble than I've been willing to go to lately. Why yes, I am that lazy. I haven't taken too many pictures either. And we all know that no pictures = nothing to post about.

A few weeks ago, I was doing laundry and Robert kept coming up to me saying, "Up, kye". I could not figure out what he wanted. He was getting desperate and I finally asked him to show me and he pointed up to the sky. I then realized he had fairy wings that he was trying to attach to his back so that he could fly.

He bent over, tried to balance them on his back and kept saying, "wings, fye, wings, fye, WINGS FYE!" Then he said, "Two, one, bas (blastoff)!" and jumped in the air. Nothing was working. It was soooo sad. He wanted so desperately to fly and couldn't figure out why the wings weren't working.

Here he is making his rocket ship noise, but alas, even with the proper sound effect, his feet never left the floor.

He eventually gave up on flying and tromped around in Daddy's shoes for a while.
