Mother's Day

I had a nice Mother's Day yesterday. Mother's Day is also baby dedication at church for all the babies born in the last year. There was a sweet slideshow with all of the babies' pictures and then we went up and Robert received his little blue bible with his name on it. Then the congregation pledged to help us in raising our babies and the elders and their wives prayed over all of the families (for those not familiar with a baby dedication).

After church we had lunch at Pei Wei with a few other families. It was very tasty. Afterwards, we headed next door for some frozen yogurt and then we ended up going to a couple of stores to check out big umbrellas. We wanted to get an umbrella for the back porch and had been looking at those big ones that are offset and tilt because we wanted it to cover the entire porch.

We eventually decided on a covered metal gazebo instead. The one we got has a bonus mosquito netting, too. We're very excited to actually step foot out into our backyard in the evenings now. The backyard faces west and there is zero shade back there, so it's scorching hot in the afternoons and evenings come summertime. We've never been too interested in sitting back there to bake, so we were determined to do something about shade this year.

And that was about it. I took a nap with Robert. Clara took a really long nap and all the while, Chris put the gazebo together by himself. Chris was exhausted after putting it up and wasn't up to the task of mowing the backyard as planned. I would have, but it just seemed terribly wrong for me to mow on Mother's Day, so I refrained.

I hope everyone's Mother's Day was fabulous!
