She Can Have Cats and Chocolate

And that's about it. Actually, only dark chocolate, because apparently she's allergic to milk.

My child is allergic to everything. I have no idea how she consumes anything if she's truly allergic to everything that stupid test says she's allergic to. We're supposed to get her in to see an allergist, but we're just not convinced we need to.

The pediatrician called with the test results, but wasn't able to answer a lot of questions, so I'm not quite sure what it all means, but here are the results:

Category 3, 4 or 5 (moderately to severely allergic):
banana
pecans
chicken
milk
soy
codfish
egg whites
wheat
peanut
walnut
mesquite

Category 1 or 2 (mildly allergic):
tomatos
oranges
strawberries
egg yolk
dog
cockroaches
shrimp
salmon

No allergy:
cats (too bad we hate cats)
cocoa (every 3 year old I know loves dark chocolate)

These are only the things we tested for, too! So, I haven't changed what she eats, because that list pretty much includes her daily diet, but I will continue to stay away from peanuts and tree nuts. We probably will get her into the allergist just to gain a better perspective on what the test results mean. I really am only concerned about the ones that typically cause an anaphalaxic reaction and how severe they may be because I don't know which food fell into which category.

I decided to conduct an allergy test of my own. I asked Clara today after eating chicken nuggets if chicken nuggets make her tummy hurt. She smiled and said, "Nahhh". Then I asked her if they gave her owies in her mouth. She said, "Nope!" So there you have it; no chicken allergy here :)

How weird, so the blood test was not really accurate? Will you be taking her to an allergist soon?

Sorry to hear that. That would explain the vomit problem though.

Hey Kelsey,
I know this is extremely aggravating and concerning for you as a mom. It is also ridiculous that the doctor/pediatrician did not take more time to explain what all the blood work means...you definitely are doing the right thing by not changing her current diet and only worrying about what could be SEVERE allergies. An allergist will be of tremendous help you you. Do some research and find one that has worked with children and also maybe consider seeing a homeopath/osteopath doctor. They are truly amazing when it comes to allergies, eating concerns/eating habits, stomach problems, acid reflux, GERD, etc...Lilly sees one for her reflux and hers WAS very severe. She now takes ZERO meds for it and eats normally! With some patience, asking lots of questions and research, you will find out what the best things to do for Clara are...

Man, no cockroaches! They're so tasty!

Not really! It's so sad that somebody so young has to deal with this-maybe she'll grow out of it.
