Hanging It Up

It was a gorgeous day today, so we took full advantage and spent a little time outside. We loaded up the bikes and hit the arboretum and playground. In the last picture, Daddy tied a rope to Clara's tricycle and pulled her all over. It worked great and didn't kill either of our backs in the process. I knew I married that man for a reason.

-----

After three weeks of potty training, I decided today to hang it up. She was no closer to being potty trained today than she was three weeks ago. On average she had one success a day even at the end, so I'd say there was pretty much zero progress. She could sit on that thing for 20 minutes, just to get up and pee next to it two minutes after standing up. I was very done. I'm done reading her "readiness signals" as something more than just random, coincidental, normal behavior of a two year old who is nowhere near being ready to go on the potty.

Clara has been acting really badly lately. Really bad. I thought she was frustrated with the potty training, but instead, she has the first bit of a two year molar coming in. It's just broken the surface and her gums are really swollen. I feel so bad that I didn't know that was why she's been so upset. Yesterday, as soon as she got a little whiney after breakfast, I gave her some tylenol and she was like a different child afterwards. The past two days have been soooo much better. I can't wait 'til she can tell us exactly what's bothering her. And I can't wait until these 4 teeth come in. I have a feeling it's not going to be fun.
